Global’s head office occupies six floors of a building in Leicester Square that was knocked together from two separate structures.
After 10 years of growth and more forecasted for the future, Global asked us to find a way to keep them at this central London address — not only the head office but also the radio studios. That meant increasing the building's capacity while maintaining a dynamic working environment.
Our concept for the fifth floor involved moving the team from fixed desks with a capacity of 206 to an agile working environment allowing for staff increases of 15%. Our goal was to create an area for their weekly Town Hall meetings — originally standing room only. We proposed a scheme of 190 desks and 80 agile spaces, including soft seating, acoustic pods and collaboration tables.
Global looks to implement this new style throughout the company.
The new Town Hall Collaborative Zone liberates staff — 90% of whom use laptops — to work where it suits. Collaboration has dramatically increased as staff easily engage with others in a dynamic situation.
